Jiangsu Protective Foam Converters Face Longer EPE Density Lead Times for Auto Parts
EPE and foam insert plants in Jiangsu report stretched lead times on mid-density grades used in auto-parts and appliance transit packs.
Protective packaging converters around Suzhou and Changzhou say mid-density EPE grades for automotive spare parts and white-goods inserts are quoting one to two weeks longer than early June.
Tooling for complex nests is still the long pole, but raw sheet availability is now delaying sample-to-bulk transitions. Some buyers are being offered density swaps that change compression set and scuff performance.
Why buyers care: an insert that “fits” in a photo sample can still fail vibration tests if density and skin quality drift.
Buyer takeaways
Lock density, skin type, and drop/vibration method on the PO.
Reject silent density substitutions without a new pack test.
Parallel-path a honeycomb or pulp option if August volume is firm.
